Bizarre break-ins: Suspects left valuable items behind in vehicles

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Multiple car break-ins have people in a Castleton neighborhood questioning their safety.

The thefts happened Tuesday night in the Eagle Nest neighborhood, near 75th Street and Hague Road. The victims woke up Wednesday morning to find their cars torn apart.

"My husband came out first, and he said 'Blankety-blank, they've been in the car,'" Elizabeth Thompson said.

In security camera video, the suspects can be seen opening a car door and rooting through the glove box and under both seats.

But the strange thing about the break-ins is -- nothing valuable was taken.  Thompson said the only thing the suspects seemed to take was her quarters for Aldi.

Gregory Stone has a similar story. He was one of as many as 10 neighbors who had their vehicles broken into.

"The iPod and chargers and everything else I thought they may have taken was still sitting there," Stone said.

Police remind anybody with valuables to bring them inside and leave an outdoor light on. If you have any information, contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477. You can also text “INDYCS” plus your tip to 274637. Your tip can be reported anonymously.
