Man shot and killed early Sunday on Indy's Northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed early Sunday on the city's Northeast side, police said.

According to a report from Indianapolis Metro Police, officers were called to the 2700 block of Sangster Ave.at 3:23 a.m. Sunday on report of a shooting. When police arrived, they found a man in the front yard of the house with an apparent gunshot wound.

Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead.

Homicide detectives responded and have begun their investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering information about the circumstances that led up to the shooting. The incident is considered an isolated incident, police said.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the exact manner of death and make proper notifications to family.
