INDIANAPOLIS — A missing Indianapolis man died after he drove off Interstate 465 and into a retention pond, according to state police.

Just before noon on Wednesday, a car was found in a pond in the 3900 block of Pendleton Way, according to Indiana State Police troopers at the scene. Emergency personnel found Ronald Wade, 44, inside the car.

Wade was reported missing on Monday, ISP Sgt. John Perrine said.

The vehicle in the pond was located by the Indianapolis Fire and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police departments, Perrine said. State police troopers were called once it was determined the vehicle may have come from the interstate, Perrine said.

State police detectives and traffic investigators are working to determine what caused the crash and if the death was caused by the crash or something else, Perrine said.

It's unclear when the crash happened, Perrine said.

Additional information has not been released.

On Sunday morning, a man died while he was trying to help a tow truck driver retrieve his car in another nearby pond.
