Penn Station restaurant employee shot in shoulder during robbery on Indianapolis' west side

INDIANAPOLIS -- An employee at a restaurant on Indianapolis' west side was shot in the shoulder during a robbery Saturday night.

Police were called to the Penn Station in the 800 block of Beachway Drive around 10 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a man forced his way into the store just before it closed. He took some cash and shot an employee in the shoulder.

There were no customers inside the restaurant at the time of the robbery.

The 21-year-old employee was taken to the hospital where he is listed as stable, according to IMPD.

Police do not have a description of the suspect.

The restaurant was closed on Sunday but is expected to reopen on Monday.
