Rally at Indiana Statehouse calls attention to lack of state hate crime law

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Plenty of lawmakers from around the state of Indiana will be at the Indiana Statehouse Tuesday, November 21 for the General Assembly's Organization Day.

So, organizers with The Central Alliance Against Hate and the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana hope that provides the perfect opportunity to get their point across to legislators.

Organizers are holding a news conference to call for lawmakers to pass a hate crime law.

The "Alliance" says it wants this law to "adequately provide justice for those targeted and harmed."

"Alliance" says the goal behind Tuesday's gathering is to get legislation passed during the 2018 session and points out Indiana is one of only five states which has not passed a hate crime law.

The news conference is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the atrium on the second floor of the Indiana State Capitol.
