INDIANAPOLIS-- A man is in custody after breaking into the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's southwest roll call building early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to an alarm just after 3 a.m. When they arrived they found Wilfredo Quiles behind a plexiglass barrier in the front lobby of the building with a dog. Quiles told police that someone had been firing shots at him and chased him into the building.

The responding officer recognized Quiles from previous calls for resisting arrest when he had forgotten to take his schizophrenia and PTSD medications.

Officers surrounded the building to check for a possible armed intruder and after clearing the building they took Quiles into custody.

During his arrest, Quiles threatened an officer.

He's being charged with burglary, criminal trespass, vandalism and intimidation. Quiles was transported to Eskenazi Hospital for evaluation.

Formal charges will be filed at a later date.

The incident remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
