SPEEDWAY, Ind. -- It’s on to 2A Semi-State softball competition for the Lady Sparkplugs of Speedway High School.
And in honor of this historic occasion, the Speedway Town Council has declared Friday, June 1, Brown and Gold Day. You’re asked to wear brown and gold that day, school colors.
The team blanked South Vermillion on Tuesday, 9-0, to win their first Regional Championship in school history.
The team has a record of 19-6-1 behind the pitching of freshman Kaiah Fenters and leading hitter, junior catcher Rachael Gregory.
The Lady Sparkplugs face Tecumseh (27-4) from Lynnville in the Semi-State Semifinals Saturday at 1 p.m. in Huntingburg at Cedar Crest Intermediate School.
