SPEEDWAY — A big project is proposed for one of the few remaining spots on Main Street in Speedway that has not been redeveloped.
Rebar Development of Fishers hopes to construct a pair of buildings on the west side of Main Street in the 1300 block.
Each building would contain retail and office space on two floors and condos on the third floor.
If the project wins town approval, work could begin later this year with completion in 2020.
"We look forward to working collaboratively with the Town Council and Redevelopment Commission on a project that would bring unique condo living, additional office and retail space, parking, and an inviting public pocket-park, all in the heart of Main Street," said Rebar President Shelby Brown.
The park would sit between the buildings.
Main Street in Speedway has gone through a transformation in recent years.
The street now includes many restaurants, A.J. Foyt's Wine Vault, race team headquarters and Speedway Indoor Karting.
The Wilshaw, a hotel and apartment development, will open later this year at the north end of Main Street.
