SPEEDWAY — The Town of Speedway announced its funding win from the Indiana Department of Transportation for the 2019 Community Crossings match grant program on Thursday. The estimated amount of the grant is totaled at $430,376.25 to complete five road resurfacing and sidewalk replacement projects in Speedway.

The roads set to be worked on for this project are as follows:

  • Parkwood Drive, from Schoolwood Drive to Maren Drive.

  • Elaine Street, from Lawndale Avenue to 30th Street.

  • Crosley Lane, from Buick Drive to Desoto Lane.
  • Buick Drive, from Cadillac Drive to Cunningham Road.
  • Desoto Lane, from Cadillac Drive to Cadillac Drive.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Town of Speedway has received this grant from INDOT, according to the Director of Communications for the Town of Speedway, Kelly Buck.

“This award not only represents a significant investment in our Town’s infrastructure, but also confidence in our asset management plan,” Town Manager, Jacob Blasdel, said.

The recipients of the Community Crossings grant are chosen based on a scoring system. Blasdel said the way the Town has invested road funding dollars in the past and effectively communicated their progress to the State put Speedway ahead of other applicants.

The start and completion date of the project has yet to be finalized.
