INDIANAPOLIS — Uber and Crime Stoppers International have started a new partnership that aims to report potential criminal activity in communities.
Indianapolis is one of five cities to begin the initial launch.
Drivers in the Circle City received a message today announcing the new partnership and details into how the new driver-partner relationship will work.
Basically, if an Uber driver has a tip, or anything along the lines of helping local law enforcement with crime, they can anonymously report it through Uber.
The exact steps drivers will take when reporting tips, although, was not explained in their announcement.
However, Uber did inform their drivers that they have created an online portal that will be for law enforcement use only, through Uber’s site.
“Crime Stoppers USA looks forward to working with Uber and driver-partners," Barb Bergin, chair of Crime Stoppers USA, said. "The partnership will empower Uber driver-partners with information to report suspected criminal activity anonymously with a focus on human trafficking as well as other crimes.”
The main goal for both Uber and Crime Stoppers is to make it easy for potential criminal activity to be reported anonymously.
