4-year-old killed in crash was not properly restrained in car seat, police say

INDIANAPOLIS --  A 4-year-old killed in a crash Friday evening in Indianapolis was not properly restrained in a car seat, according to police. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene said the car ran off Country Club Road and crashed into a tree just after 8:30 p.m. 

A 4-year-old child in the back seat was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died from their injuries. 

Police say the child was not properly restrained in a car seat in the back of the vehicle. 

Investigators believe the driver may have had a medical emergency before the crash. The driver was not seriously injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
