INDIANAPOLIS-- A 68-year-old man died after being pulled out of a house fire on the west side early Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to the home along W 10th street around 2:30 a.m. after someone driving by spotted the fire and called 911.
Originally crews thought the home was vacant but after about 10 minutes on scene, the elderly man was pulled from the home.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
The fire caused about $40,000 in damage to the home, which had working smoking detectors.
Investigators are still working to determine what started the fire.
