New town hall coming to Speedway

Posted

SPEEDWAY.  Ind. – A building that’s been a bank since the 1960’s will have a new life as the town hall for Speedway.

The town purchased the PNC building at Crawfordsville Road and Lynhurst Drive for $965,000 and hopes to have it ready by the summer of 2020.

Once the building is complete, offices in the current town hall, the town annex and the Speedway Police Department, along with some school system offices will finally be under one roof.

“Right now, residents have to visit several different sites to conduct business with the town. Purchasing the PNC building represents a unique opportunity for our community to have its government offices centralized right in the heart of town,” according to Speedway Town Council President Jeff Matthews.

Matthews said the building will also have space for community meetings and events.

The town will select an architect to design renovations and modifications to the PNC building.

As for the bank, it will eventually move to a new location in the Speedway Marketplace, which is under construction.
