SPEEDWAY, Ind.— Runners, walkers and cyclists will soon have more room to spread out in Speedway.
The town is working to pave 1.4 miles of the B&O trail between Winton Avenue and Lynhurst Drive.
The B&O Trail Association and the Speedway Trail Association are working together to connect the Town of Speedway’s trail east to Michigan and west to Hendricks County, said Beverly Katterhenry, President of Speedway Trails.

“Indy Gateway is fundraising for building the B&O Trail from Raceway Rd. eastward, we call it the Far West B&O Trail,” said Katterhenry. “The Near West B&O is working on connecting the B&O Trail eastward from Speedway to Michigan St or the Cultural Trail.”
Runners are thrilled with the expansion.
“For the running club and its members, paving of the Speedway Trails means more safe and dedicated places to run and walk,” said runner Jeff Lowry. “Expansion of the trails would connect Speedway to surrounding communities, and it would give us more routes to run and walk on too."
