Teenager struck on Indianapolis' near-west side while crossing street to bus stop

INDIANAPOLIS — A teenager was struck by a vehicle Monday morning on Indianapolis' west side.

The incident happened near the intersection of 10th Street and Traub Avenue at about 6:45 a.m.

The driver was westbound on 10th Street when they hit the male teenager. The person struck was between 16 and 18 years old, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The teen was believed to be crossing the street to a bus stop, police say.

The teenager was hospitalized in critical condition, police say. His parents have been notified.

The driver didn't appear to be impaired and is cooperating with the investigation, police say. The driver was one of the people who called 911.
