INDIANAPOLIS -- The MSD of Wayne Township is building a solar farm that will eventually provide power to Ben Davis High School and Ninth Grade Center.
The site is located north of 10th Street and west of W. Park Way, on a piece of land that used to be a driving range.
The district is partnering with the City of Indianapolis, Hilltop Farms, Johnson & Melloh Solutions and CCHA.
The goal is to reduce the district’s dependency on electrical power by 80% and lower their carbon footprint.
The hope is to “power up” the solar farm sometime in September.
Superintendent Jeff Butts said the project is making great progress.
