INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Dozens of families on Indianapolis's west side will be better off this Thanksgiving thanks to a food drive organized by the Wayne Township school system.
In recent weeks, each district school gathered donated food which was sent to Ben Davis High School for its Thanksgiving food drive.
Each family receives a turkey and other staples for a traditional holiday meal.
Senior class officers loaded the food into vehicles for distribution.
One of the students, Anaijah Dunn, said she enjoys the volunteer work because "it is fun and nice to give back and know that you are making a difference in other peoples' holidays."
School secretary Melissa Edwards is the senior class sponsor at Ben Davis and has organized the food drive since 2004.
