INDIANAPOLIS--   A west side business has donated more than $17,000 in school clothing to families in need.

Wayne Township Trustee Andy Harris said he was contacted by the owners of Davis Jean & Fashion, 4406 W. Washington Street, to see if the trustee’s office would be interested in new school clothes.

John Ward, general manager at the store, told RTV6 they’ve accumulated a lot of extra stock over the years and needed some extra space.

“We just thought it would be a great way to give back to the community,” said Ward. “Our store has been open for 96 years.”

The clothes are brand new with tags on them.

“I met with Mr. Ward along with Rick Boger with ServePro, who donated his time and box truck to assist me with picking up, and delivering the donated clothes to the township offices,” said Andy Harris, Wayne Township Trustee. “I want to thank both men for their generosity, but especially Davis Jean & Fashion owner for caring for the community, you ROCK sir!”

The Wayne Township Trustee's Office is located at: 5401 West Washington Street, and is open Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
