Where to find the lowest priced Thanksgiving turkeys in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -- While the average price for a full Thanksgiving dinner has declined for the second year in a row across the country, Hoosiers are likely spending a little more this year.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average cost to feed a family of 10 on Thanksgiving Day is about $49.12 this year – down about 2 percent. In Indiana, that average is a bit higher at $50.88.

For 2017, the average cost of a 16-pound turkey is $22.38, but in Indiana, the main course will run around $25.99. Keep in mind, these prices do not turkey price specials that are offered by many retailers this Thanksgiving.

  • Walmart: Honeysuckle frozen turkey 35 cents per pound.  
  • Meijer: Frozen Meijer brand turkeys are 38 cents per pound with an additional $30 purchase.
  • Kroger: Frozen Kroger brand turkeys are 49 cents per pound with an additional $20 purchase.
  • Target: Market Pantry frozen turkey 79 cents per pound.
  • Trader Joe’s: All Natural No Antibiotics Ever Brined Fresh Young Turkeys are $1.99 per pound.
