INDIANAPOLIS — Some good news for Indianapolis drivers. The construction work on Interstate-70 eastbound on the city's east side is done. The road is reopening between the North Split and Interstate-465 late-Wednesday.
Eastbound 70 between the split and 465 has been closed for one month. During that time, the Indiana Department of Transportation has been doing extensive pavement patching, along with repairs to bridge decks and joints. Additionally, the North Split has received a new coating of asphalt.
Westbound 70 on the east side between the split and 465 remains closed, with reopening scheduled for May 24.
These projects are not the only ones, as INDOT takes advantage of reduced highway traffic due to pandemic restrictions.
Eastbound 70 between the South Split and Ronald Reagan Parkway will shut down on May 22 for patching and bridge work.
