INDIANAPOLIS — There were no bands, no speeches, no ribbon cutting to mark the occasion. Just some INDOT workers taking down barricades.
But for the many drivers who use the Ditch Road bridge over Interstate 465 on the north side, Friday was a day to celebrate.
After nearly a year of being closed, the heavily-used bridge is open, and it's really a new bridge.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, contractors tore down the old bridge and replaced it with a new one. Workers will return in the spring to pour new sidewalks on either side of the bridge.
