WHITELAND, Ind. (AP, WRTV) — Authorities say a building under construction collapsed last week, injuring at least two construction workers.
The 60x90 building was under construction in the 600 block of North Front Street in the town of Whiteland when it collapsed around 4 p.m. Friday, Whiteland Fire Chief Eric Funkhouser told WRTV.
Funkhouser said that three construction workers who were at the site were injured.
He told the Daily Journal that says some of the workers had to be pulled out of the collapsed structure, the Associated Press reported.
The workers were all taken to local hospitals, Funkhouser said.
The workers were on the roof setting trusses when an area they were working on completely collapsed, sending them falling about 16 feet, Funkhouser said.
Town Manager Jim Lowhorn says one was transported with lacerations, one was complaining of pain, and one was transported as a precaution, AP reported.
Lowhorn says firefighters are investigating the collapse, AP reported.
