Former Franklin councilman resigns as reserve deputy following social media post fallout

 FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A former long-time city councilman in Franklin is now stepping down from his job as a reserve deputy too after a fallout concerning a controversial social media post. 

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said Friday that Joseph Ault had resigned from his position as a reserve deputy. Ault served as a reserve with the county for more than 20 years.

The controversial post shared by on Facebook by Ault made reference to an offensive comment reportedly made by President Trump in a meeting about immigration. 

Ault also resigned from his position on the Franklin City-County Council last week.
