GREENWOOD — Here's an update on a story first reported by RTV6, the handicap accessible van that was stolen out of a Greenwood family's driveway, has been been found by police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found the red van in Indianapolis.

The vehicle had been damaged externally, with three out of the four tires stolen, excessive dents as if the van had been hit and the battery stolen.

The handicap equipment was not stolen.

The Parson family's van is currently in the hands of their insurance company.

As the company figures out what to do with the van, the family is still currently without a handicap accessible vehicle.

On Wednesday, Erin Homan, with the Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation saw RTV6's story and asked the Parson family to apply for a give away they do every year.

The foundation gives away a free van to one Hoosier family each year.
