JOHNSON COUNTY -- A Johnson County mother is behind bars after police say she they found her intoxicated and passed out on her front porch while her three young kids were inside the home alone.

Johnson County Sheriff's Department deputies were called around 9:45 a.m. Saturday to a house on Glendale Trailer County. When deputies arrived, they found Elizabeth Bitner unresponsive on the front porch.

Court documents said deputies found "an empty box of wine lying next to her and a spray can of glue." Bitner admitted to deputies that she was huffing glue and drinking wine.

A neighbor heard a baby screaming from inside the residence and found the three-month-old baby laying on the couch with a blanket. A 2-year-old and 4-year-old were also found sleeping on the floor of a bedroom.

While at the hospital receiving a jail clearance, police say Bitner was cursing at hospital staff.

Bitner has been preliminarily charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent and one count of disorderly conduct.
