GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The Johnson County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to parents after a young girl claims a strange man tried to lure her into his van Friday evening in Greenwood.

Sheriff Doug Cox says the 11-year-old claims she was planting flowers near her home in the Carefree North addition in White River Township when a man pulled up in a van and started talking to her.

The van was described as a white mini-van with tinted windows.

The girl told deputies that the man tried to lure her into the van, saying: "sweetheart, why don't I give you a ride."

The girl was able to get away.

The man driving the van was described a white male in his 40's with blackish to brown hair, a little beard and glasses.

Anyone with information on a possible suspect or any other suspicious activity in the area should contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
