GREENWOOD, IND – Vinyl record sales are on the rise.
The RIAA reportedthat for the first time since 2011, physical music sales such as CD’s and vinyl records were higher than digital sales in 2017. Streaming still continues to dominate the industry with popular streaming music services such as Apple Music and Spotify.
While CD and digital sales specifically were down, vinyl showed growth.
Danny Lindsey opened Vinyl Rescue Project several years ago in Greenwood. He started it with his personal collection of 8,500 records which he has collected for over fifty years.
“There's just something totally unique about records,” said Lindsey. “The artwork, the lyric sheets, the little extras, the color vinyl, how they sound. There's nothing that compares to how vinyl sounds, and people that haven't listened to it, just don't know that.”
