INDIANAPOLIS — A ribbon cutting event was held Saturday for a museum and library in downtown Indianapolis honoring one of the city's most famous natives.

The event was held at the new location for the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, 543 Indiana Ave., after the location's previous lease on Senate Avenue expired.

In May, efforts were underway to raise $300,000 to buy the new new building and for renovations.

Julia Whitehead, the founder and CEO of the museum and library, says the grand opening of the new space is a dream come true.

"We are so grateful to the 1,400 donors that made this building happen and for all the support we’ve received from volunteers and others," Whitehead said.
