Large fire damages lumberyard in Greenwood

GREENWOOD — Multiple fire departments worked the scene of a massive lumberyard fire in Greenwood Friday morning.

Just east of U.S. 31, on Worthsville Road heading toward I-65, 84 Lumber had a massive fire on its property around 5:15 a.m., according to Johnson County officials.

According to officials on the scene, it took just over an hour to get the fire under control with tankers full of water. Multiple departments helped cease the fire, including the City of Greenwood's Fire Department, Whiteland Fire Department, Franklin City Fire Department and Indianapolis Fire Department.

No injuries have been reported. The extent of the damage is not yet known.

The fire has effectively shut down Worthsville Road, at the intersection of U.S. 31 at the time of this reporting.
