MARION—Marion Police say they have made an arrest in a late-night shooting that left an 18-year-old dead.

Captain Stephen Dorsey of the Marion Police Department says Enrique Alcorta was shot in a parking lot in the 300 block of West 30th Street, shortly before 10:30 p.m. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of gunshots heard in the area.

Alcorta was found in the parking lot suffering from a chest wound. He was rushed to Marion General Hospital, but died a short time later.

According to Dorsey, "while on the scene, officers received information and name of a person of interest concerning the shooting." That person, a 35-year-old Marion man, was questioned. According to Dorsey, the man "provided detectives with information concerning the shooting at which time he was arrested and faces a preliminary charge of murder."
