LEBANON—A 23-year-old Lebanon man charged in a 2017 murder that shocked the Boone County city has been found guilty.

The verdict by Boone Superior Court Judge Matthew Kincaid came on the second day of the bench trial for Zachary Wright.

Wright was convicted of 15 counts, including Murder, Attempted Murder, Criminal Confinement, Aggravated Battery, Burglary and Theft. He will be sentenced January 16.

"The brutal and senseless acts committed that day created a heartbreaking loss for the Foster family and rocked our community to its core," said Boone County Prosecutor Kent Eastwood."

Evidence at the trial showed that in June of 2017, Wright burglarized two other homes before coming upon the Foster residence. Max and Sonja Foster were asleep. Max Foster was stabbed to death and Sonja Foster was also stabbed, but survived. She fought back and managed to escape the house and went to neighbors for help.

"The strength, courage and grace demonstrated by Sonja Foster and her family over the past two-and-a-half years has been nothing short of inspirational," said Eastwood, who will push for a life sentence without the possibility of parole for Wright.
