ANDERSON, Ind. -- Concerned that an altercation in a local park over the weekend could carry into schools this week, Anderson Community Schools had extra security on hand Monday morning.
An altercation at a local park over the weekend involved many members of Anderson Community Schools, Anderson interim superintendent Timothy Smith said.
As a result of the fight, officers with the Anderson police department had an increased presence Monday morning when students arrived for school.
As school officials investigated the fight, photos indicated weapons were present. The officials questioned students, and found a weapon in a vehicle. The weapon was seized by the police department, and the student is being disciplined by the school, Smith said.
It is unknown what type of altercation led to the increased security, and what type of weapon was found in the vehicle.
