ANDERSON Ind. -- An Anderson donut store owner who was the victim of counterfeiters says he got tired of being a victim and took action to help put them behind bars.
Lee Pancol installed surveillance cameras in his Deluxe Donuts store after receiving several counterfeit bills.
Pancol says he also started checking every bill that came into his store and notified nearby businesses that a group of people was passing out bad bills in the area.
Because of his diligence, Pancol was able to provide police with critical information that led to the arrest of 46-year-old Aaron Garcia in connection with the fake money.
“They are not only 20’s, 10’s and 5’s. They’re making even $1 bills,” said Pancol. “Really people, they’ve come down a long way from 50’s and 100’s. 20’s add up, like 10’s and 5’s unfortunately.”
Police are still looking for two women they describe as persons of interest in the fake money ring. Those women were identified from video that Pancol provided to police.
If you have any information about the crime or know of anyone passing around fake money contact the Anderson Police Department.
