ANDERSON, Ind. -- It’s an idea that’s been years in the making and now the City of Anderson is launching its inaugural First Friday Art Walk.
The event is organized by A Town Center, Inc.
“We have been anticipating First Friday events for years,” says program director Sonia Caldwell. “Now that we have met all building requirements and our doors are finally open, we can host First Fridays and encourage everyone to walk Downtown and see that Anderson is a great place to live, shop, eat, drink and have fun.”
Levi Rinker with the Anderson Economic Development Office agrees with Caldwell. “The idea is to show Anderson as a more playful environment with a vibrant Artisan community. The Indianapolis Metro area is growing, and more young people are moving to Anderson and they shouldn’t have to drive to Indy to enjoy a vibrant nightlife.”
The kickoff event is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m.
The “First” First Friday will include eight venues throughout Downtown Anderson.
The Anderson Museum of Art will extend their gallery hours until 8 pm. and some businesses will offer food and drink specials.
First Fridays will continue throughout the year.
