ANDERSON — Directly following a "Body Safety" presentation given by a Madison County child advocacy center, a student in attendance told a staff member about the potential abuse they have been experiencing at home.

Madison County Sheriff investigators were called to Anderson Preparatory Academy on Thursday, January 18, after the student, and one of her juvenile siblings, described some incidents that had occurred at their home to staff at 'Kids Talk.'

The siblings were taken to 'Kids Talk' to be forensically interviewed, according to Madison County Sheriff, Scott Mellinger.

The two children both gave a detailed interview, describing sexual assault they have been subjected to at their home, Sheriff Mellinger said.

It was announced Friday, January 18 that detectives have since arrested the children's stepfather and mother for further investigation.

'Kids Talk' is a "collaborative approach" at protecting and serving Madison County children with presentations about sexual or physical abuse, according to Aspire Indiana.
