ANDERSON, Ind. — The Madison County Humane Society is desperately searching for a forever home for a neglected dog who has been living at the shelter for a year.
Shiloh’s previous owners surrendered him to the shelter three days before Christmas 2017, when he was just 10 months old.
The shelter manager says the previous owners neglected Shiloh when they had a child.
"He was left tied up outside his whole puppy life," Nikki Sanchez-Moore, shelter manager at the Madison County Humane Society, said.
Shiloh, an American English Coonhound, is now 1 year, 10 months old and is currently spending two weeks at Paws and Play Boarding and Training to learn socialization.
"He is drowning here at the shelter," Sanchez-Moore said. "We are desperate to find him a home during his two-week stay at Paws and Play."
The training is giving Shiloh a break from shelter life, as well as help with understanding his manners.
"He has spent 344 days with us, 344 days wasting away in a kennel, 344 days wishing he had a home,” Sanchez-Moore said. "Shiloh has become anxious in the kennel and worries he may never find a home."

The shelter says Shiloh would prefer a home without children and would like to have a companion at home most of the time.
"Most of all, Shiloh would love to be able to spend a Christmas with a loving family for the first time in his life," Sanchez-Moore said.
