ALEXANDRIA — An Alexandria Police Department officer struck and killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning, according to the sheriff's office.
The officer, who hasn't been identified, struck the pedestrian around 2:20 a.m. in the 1000 block of State Road 9, Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger said in an email.
The identity of the pedestrian who was killed hasn't been released.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office crash team is investigating the incident.
