ANDERSON, IND -- A woman who investigators say admitted to using a number of illegal drugs during her pregnancy was charged with feticide on Thursday in connection with the death of her newborn son, according to court documents.
Kelli Leever-Driskel, 34, of Anderson, was arrested last Thursday at the Motel 6 in Anderson.
Police say Leever-Driskel gave birth at home to a baby boy on Dec. 23, 2017.
A friend who was with her rushed Leever-Driskel and the newborn to the hospital, where doctors determined the baby was stillborn.
According to the probable cause affidavit, an autopsy revealed that the baby's death was due in part to acute methamphetamine, fentanyl, clonazepam and diphenhydramine intoxication.
Leever-Driskel admitted to detectives that she knew about a month before giving birth that she was pregnant but continued to use different types of drugs including to meth, as stated in the probable caus affidavit.
In addition to feticide, Leever-Driskel was charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of methamphetamine in Madison County Circuit Court.
