Man injured after possible incident on motorized scooter in downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was injured after a possible incident on a motorized scooter Saturday evening near Lucas Oil Stadium, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 7 p.m. to the area near West South and South Missouri streets on the report of a man down after a possible incident involving a motorized scooter, IMPD Officer Aaron Hamer said in an email.

A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Hamer said.

On Sunday morning, the man was listed in stable condition, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email.

Their identity has not been released.

The incident happened about an hour before the Big Ten Championship Football game started at Lucas Oil Stadium.

IMPD closed some roads near the stadium on Saturday for the game.

It's unclear what led to the incident, but detectives are working to find out what happened, Hamer said.
