BATESVILLE, Ind. -- One person died in a traffic accident in Batesville.
Indiana State Police say the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. Saturday on St. Mary's Road near Morris Road. Glen Smith, 50, was the driver of the only car involved in the crash and died from his injuries.
Police say Smith was driving a 1983 Ford Mustang eastbound on St. Mary's Road when the car ran off the road and rolled in a field. Smith and the passenger, Travis Hirt, were both ejected from the car. Hirt, 26, was taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
While police say speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, toxicology tests on Smith are pending.
