INDIANAPOLIS — One man died early Saturday morning after a crash on an Interstate 465 off-ramp on the west side of Indianapolis.
According to information from Indiana State Police, emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on the ramp from I-465 southbound to Washington Street.
Officers believe the driver drove his Chevrolet Trailblazer off the side of the road and it overturned. The passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died after being transported to the hospital.
First responders found the driver walking along the side of the road, and he collapsed a short time later and was taken to the hospital.
Police believe drugs might have been a factor in the crash and the driver faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, along with possession of a syringe.
ISP said the names of the men are being withheld until their families can be notified.
