INDIANAPOLIS -- A man involved in a police chase and shooting will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Matthew Cole was arrested after a chase on Indianapolis' northeast side on June 23.

The incident began at Washington Park when a police officer noticed two men in a car. Police say the driver didn't cooperate and drove off, beginning a chase that ended near the intersection of 38th Street and Tacoma Avenue.

Police say the driver of the vehicle tried to "use the car as a weapon toward police," and that is when one officer fired one shot at the vehicle.

The passenger, Joshua Dyer, 34, was fatally struck by the bullet.

Cole has been charged with resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle without a license.
