LAWRENCE — An 18-year-old man was shot and killed while driving a vehicle Wednesday in Lawrence.

Gary Woodruff, a public information officer for the Lawrence Police Department, said officers responded shortly after 6:15 p.m. to a report of shots fired and a single-vehicle crash at 56th Street and Boy Scout Road.

Woodruff said the officers discovered the driver, Domanic Jones, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses saw three other people exit the vehicle and run south down Boy Scout Road. Woodruff said they were found and taken into custody that night where they were interviewed and released.

So far, no one has been charged in connection to this incident.

According to detectives, the shots fired at the black Chevy Jones was driving may have been fired by unknown person(s) driving another vehicle.

Although detectives do not have a definitive description of the other vehicle, they say a sedan style passenger car is possibly in question of being conencted to this incident.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Crime Stopper at 317-262-TIPS.
