Smith was arrested last year after driving Knowles to the CCB in downtown Indianapolis looking for help. Responders discovered Knowles had been shot three times in the hea. She later died at the hospital.

Police said they found three spent bullet casings and a sock containing $29,900 inside Smith's vehicle.
