INDIANAPOLIS — A man who fled to Texas for eight years after a shooting death before he was returned to Indiana will spend more than five decades behind bars.

Saul Hernandez Ramirez received a 55-year prison sentence Friday for the June 6, 2010 murder of Jonathan Parilla. Hernandez Ramirez was convicted May 17 after a two-day trial.

Hernandez Ramirez and Parrilla got into a fight during a party at Hernandez Ramirez's Lawrence mobile home. After they were separated, Hernandez Ramirez went inside then returned with a handgun and shot Parrilla in the arm and throat.

Hernandez Ramirez fled and was found in Texas in August 2018 before being extradited back to Marion County.
