FRANKLIN TWP. — The Franklin Township Middle School East principal recruited help from parents on Thursday to get all of the potholes filled along Indian Creek Road.
I'm calling to ask you for your support and assistance. I would like to ask that each of you take a moment to call the mayors action hotline as soon as possible either right now or first thing in the morning and let them know about the dangerous conditions of Indian Creek Road. We contacted the Indianapolis Department of transportation and they did a patch a few holes today on Indian Creek Road, however they did not patch the numerous large potholes by our school that continue to put our students in danger every morning and every evening.
Parents - although shocked by the message - agree that the amount of potholes on the main street that students take to get to school is dangerous.
"In all of the years that my kids have been to school, I have never had a principal or any staff member request help from a parent to reach out to their local government," Anthony Davidson, a Franklin Township parent, said.
The Department of Public Works told RTV6 that the same crews that were at the school on Wednesday working on the road worked 16 hours. Snow duty in the morning, then climbed out of salt trucks to patch potholes in the afternoon. They say no matter how long it takes - the holes will be filled by the end of Thursday.
The drivers are now feeling heard and much more safe.
