INDIANAPOLIS -- A firefighter with the Indianapolis Fire Department was hospitalized early Thursday morning after falling through the roof of a porch.
IFD crews responded to a fire in the 1400 block of Charles Street at around 1:30 a.m.
The firefighter was on the roof of the porch, removing exterior siding from the second story when the roof gave way. He fell through to the porch and landed on his head.

Captain Brian T. White, a 22-year veteran with the Indianapolis Fire Department was unconscious when he was taken to Methodist Hospital in serious condition. His condition was last listed as stable. He was alert and talking at the hospital.
The fire was caused about $30,000 in damage.
