SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Improvements are coming to increase safety at a busy intersection in Speedway.
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works will be striping the intersection of Crawfordsville and High School roads to clarify the lanes.
Turn lanes will be painted for traffic heading south from High School Road and traffic going north from the Speedway Marketplace.
The far right lane heading westbound on Crawfordsville Road will also become a right turn and through lane. It is currently a right turn only onto High School Road.
Speedway Economic Development Director Tim Gropp said there have been some delays during rush hour. The goal is the changes will lessen those delays.
Traffic increased in the area when the Speedway Marketplace opened about two years ago.
The marketplace includes a GetGo Gas Station, Starbucks, D-1 Sports Training Complex and a Courtyard by Marriott that's under construction.
