INDIANAPOLIS -- An inmate found unresponsive inside his Marion County Jail cell Saturday afternoon has died.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said Joshua Ellis, 33, was found unresponsive around 3:05 p.m. and was pronounced deceased at 3:26 p.m.
Ellis was arrested and booked into the jail on July 9 on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction.
At this time, a cause or manner of death has not be released.
A death investigation is being conducted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Forensic Services Agency and Marion County Coroner's Office.
The Sheriff's Office is also conducting an internal affairs investigation.
