LAWRENCE — A pedestrian is in critical condition after they were struck Thursday evening in Lawrence, according to police.
The pedestrian was trying to cross East 46th Street near Shadeland Avenue when they were struck around 5:45 p.m., Lawrence Police Department Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff said.
The driver told officers he did not see the pedestrian until just before he struck them, Woodruff said. Officers at the scene don't believe the driver was impaired but was taken for a blood draw, which is required by law for all serious crashes.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
